Tarlon Khoubyari’s career has been centered around helping others find meaning and purpose behind their social media channels. Throughout her career, she’s held positions in the world’s leading financial organizations, multi-million dollar technology startups, and supported clients who are in the White House serving as the COO of Boss Business Market. To further her commitment to improving access to STEM education she is the Chief Marketing Officer for the STEM Station, an ed-tech startup that aims to gamify STEM learning for underrepresented high school students.

Marlies is a summer associate focusing on business operations. She graduated from Stanford University in June 2021 with a major in Management Science & Engineering and a minor in Environmental Engineering. Hailing from the Great Lakes State, she is passionate about all things water and the environment. Prior to Burnt Island Ventures, Marlies interned at Amazon Web Services on the water resources team, a water pipe leak detection startup, and her hometown's drinking water treatment plant. She also worked on several research projects, in which she evaluated the removal of microplastics by water resource recovery facilities and developed a tool to predict sanitary sewer overflows during extreme weather events. Marlies will return to Stanford in Fall 2021 to continue her studies in the MS Program in Management Science & Engineering.

Before joining Burnt Island Ventures, Shradha worked in utilities and energy as a technology strategist at Deloitte. Shradha has experience in predictive analytics, smart grid systems, wildfire mitigation strategy, and innovation strategy. She earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and is currently pursuing a Masters in South Asian Philosophy at the University of Chicago. She is committed to bridging the gap between tech and the humanities. In her free time, she enjoys conversations about the Sanskrit philosophical traditions, existentialism, and governance.

In a highly competitive applicant pool, these three embodied the values, insight, and attitude that we’re looking for. They will be a tremendous asset to Burnt Island Ventures, and we can’t wait to see what they produce.
